Collection and Recycling Arrangements in Austria
Hologic does not have a sales office or approved distributor in Austria. Instead, Hologic products are sold directly to business end-users in Austria from sales offices in other Member States.
Selling products directly to an end-user in another Member State is known as 'distance selling'. The WEEE Regulations in Austria state that Hologic is not responsible for WEEE arising from distance sales of business products directly to the business end-user in Austria. Instead, it is the business end-user's responsibility to ensure that products which they buy through distance selling arrangements are managed in an environmentally responsible manner at end of life.
However, Hologic has decided to provide WEEE collection and recycling on behalf of its customers in Austria.
For equipment that you buy from Hologic after August 13th 2005, Hologic provides arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that your new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. The old equipment that your new purchase from Hologic replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE.
Hologic also provides arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from Hologic after August 13th 2005 when that equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.
Hologic products are very competitively priced. Any new increase in operating costs for manufacturers such as Hologic is normally reflected in a price increase in the product. However, instead of increasing the prices of our products, Hologic has decided to share these new environmental costs directly with our customers. We believe in being transparent with you on any new environmental costs that our products need to address.
Our approach to sharing these new environmental costs is:
*Note: Where the instrument you are sending for recycling is being replaced by another Hologic system, Hologic will also compensate you for the cost of transportation. This will covered by offering a reduction in the cost or rental of the new system that is equal to the cost of transport.
Hologic has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the EARN recycling facility in Austria. All New WEEE that arises from the purchase of Hologic products is classed as non-hazardous waste.
It is your responsibility to arrange and pay for costs of collection and transportation to the recycler. Under Austrian waste management regulations, you are free to use any carrier you wish to collect and transport the Historic and New WEEE to the EARN recycler.
For larger quantities of waste, you may want to contact the recycler directly to arrange and pay for alternative collection methods. The EARN recycling facility in Austria is:
In order to help EARN identify Hologic equipment upon arrival at the recycler's address, please download the Recycling Label for Austrian Customers. Complete the label with your company details and attach it to a suitable box for transport to EARN.
